The only way to explain my week, is to quote Elder Holland. “Salvation is not a cheap experience. there is something at work in suffering that is exalting.”
Im not going to lie, there was some serious suffering this week. I have suffered because of others and I have also been able to suffer with others. And I would have to say, that neither are all that fun. In fact, it’s the WORST! And there is not much more to say than that. We all suffer. There is no escape. However, I have found more meaning in the atonement as I have suffered.
Romans 8: 16-17 says:
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
There truly is something special in suffering. Especially when we use the atonement to move forward in faith. It is possible. We can become stronger through trials and our lives can take on new meaning as we come to know our Savior better though suffering with him. We can not expect this life to be easy, when it was never ever easy for the Son of God.
Keep on keeping on,
